The DE LAMA S.p.A. company, founded in 1949, is one of the most established and qualified manufacturers of sterilization systems, with equipment supplied all over the world. The management and production unit, which has been constantly expanding over the years, is located in San Martino Siccomario (about 2 km from Pavia and about 30 km south of Milan).

De Lama was born thanks to the intuition of its founder, Engineer Franco De Lama, who understood how in the post-war period, with the reconstruction, the need for sterilization systems would receive an ever-increasing demand, alongside the development of the pharmaceutical sector.

De Lama was born, precisely, with a main target market that has never betrayed since its origins: the pharmaceutical industry.
This is what has allowed De Lama to position itself in the highest and most demanding segment of the market and to continue in the evolution of technologies following the increasingly challenging demands of the sector and the most stringent regulations.

Over the years, the markets have expanded and the pharmaceutical market has been joined by the cosmetic, chemical, nutraceutical, research laboratories, food industry and finally the medical device sector.
The latter, in recent years, has been experiencing a real boom thanks to De Lama’s innovations, in particular the one called HyPerPure®, which presents the most efficient and green ‘cold’ sterilization technology on the market, and covered by an industrial patent .

A COMPLETE PORTFOLIO IN THE WORLD OF STERILIZATION

Over the years, as can be seen in the path marked by the History of the site, De Lama has progressively expanded the range of sterilization products by offering an absolutely complete portfolio of solutions: from the classic saturated steam sterilization technology, arrived also the air-steam mixture, the hot air sterilization using sterilization and depyrogenation ovens, the superheated water autoclaves, the EtO (Ethylene Oxide) ones and finally the aforementioned HyPerPure® technology, with hydrogen peroxide under high vacuum and zero air.

THE EVOLUTION FROM AN AUTOCLAVE MANUFACTURING COMPANY TO A LEADER COMPANY IN THE STERILIZATION, WASHING AND DECONTAMINATION PROCESSES

De Lama’s catalogue, over the years, has also expanded beyond pure sterilisation, also offering hydrogen peroxide decontamination systems (pass-box), which were the progenitors of HyPerPure® technology, washing systems which have become increasingly more advanced and complete, hot air and vacuum dryers and, finally, steam generators both to serve the systems sold and as ‘stand alone’ products.

For this reason, today, given the growing importance, in terms of numbers and turnover, of washing and decontamination systems, De Lama is committed to making itself known not as a simple ‘autoclave company’ but as a leader in the production of sterilization, washing and decontamination equipment.

In particular, washers has experienced exponential growth also following the demands of the industry which has moved from predominantly manual cleaning to automated cleaning, to guarantee performance, safety and repeatability, all supported by regulations such as the new ‘cleaning validation’ .

INNOVATION AS A DRIVER

The History section of the site highlights the enormous quantity of innovations that De Lama has brought to the market since its inception.

Some inventions today represent milestones in the world of sterilization tout-court.
The ability to innovate, to propose continuous innovative solutions, sometimes capable of bringing with them small but significant improvements, and in some cases even revolutionary ones, has allowed De Lama to grow and resist globalization, the insertion of players low-cost market, and to remain a point of reference for the most important pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers in the world.

TOTAL CUSTOMIZATION AS ‘STATE OF MIND’

De Lama’s approach, which has proven successful over the years, was that of total customization. With this we intend to affirm that De Lama, as a company philosophy, does not produce machines in series, but each plant is built ‘ad hoc’ starting from blank paper, or rather, from the customer’s specifications, being able to work on a very wide range of options and solutions.

Systems of any shape and size can be created ‘tailor-made’ to the individual customer’s needs, just as the processes and software are configured to follow every need, which, as is typical of pharma, is often extremely specific.

INTERNATIONALIZATION

Since the beginning, De Lama has participated in industrial fairs abroad, in Europe and overseas, becoming over the years one of the most well-known high-level global companies in its reference sector.

In countries as diverse as South Korea, Bangladesh or Cuba, the name De Lama has become synonymous with ‘autoclaves.’
The international approach has allowed De Lama to evolve, to make his ‘mindset’ increasingly flexible and capable of addressing different cultures, but also different regulatory and industrial situations.

Finally, the global presence has allowed De Lama to guarantee growth and stability, because when a market has suffered slowdowns due to internal economic situations or, unfortunately as often happened, to wars, our company has not remained ‘hostage’ of a single country, but was able to count on the development of other countries, which at the same time enjoyed favorable situations.

IMPORTANT INVESTMENTS IN THE MOST ADVANCED PRODUCTION MACHINERY

The production machinery park present in De Lama is absolutely complete and, first of all, cutting-edge: you can see machines for laser cutting of steel, machines with innovative water cutting, welding robots, very large milling machines and much more.

The choice was to always aim for the most advanced technologies and constantly update the fleet of processing plants.
This allows the company to manage 100% of the production process in house, being able to have maximum control over the workflow and quality, as well as train the workers internally.
Innovative systems have allowed us to increasingly reduce human error and improve and speed up production.

DE LAMA’S STAFF AND VERY LOW TURN-OVER

Over the years, the staff, hand in hand with the turnover, has continued to grow constantly and organically, reaching over 100 current employees. And the trend does not stop continuing, indeed, a progressive acceleration is imagined.
What has always been one of De Lama’s flagships is the high specialization of the staff, the constant updating in training and ‘in the field’, all accompanied by a very low turnover.

This last data, in fact, shows that the majority of workers enter and continue their entire working lives at De Lama. On the one hand it is certainly an index of corporate well-being, on the other, it materializes in the absence of ‘talent drain’, with workers trained after years of work and therefore increasingly expert and qualified.

TOTAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, AND AFTER-SALES AS THE FINAL OBJECTIVE

Moving in a critical sector, where the safety of both workers and the final product are simply a “must”, De Lama has always placed the emphasis on total customer satisfaction, at the time of sale, at delivery of the order and in the years to follow.

Moving in a critical sector, where the safety of both workers and the final product are simply a “must”, De Lama has always placed the emphasis on total customer satisfaction, at the time of sale, at delivery of the order and in the years to follow.
For De Lama it is not enough to sell a system that represents the ‘state of the art’, but it also becomes part of its ‘mission’ to accompany the customer throughout the ‘life cycle of the machine’ by following them with an impeccable after-sales service, ready to intervene at any time to avoid damage to production and pauses that lead to losses in turnover.
On the other hand, in a sector where the players, especially the most important ones, are relatively limited, for De Lama becoming a partner for the customer, more than a simple supplier, represents an intrinsic characteristic of his nature.

A CONTINUOUSLY EXPANDING COMPANY, BUILT ACCORDING TO THE ‘STATE OF THE ART’ WITH A TOTALLY GREEN VOCATION

De Lama has been continuously expanding over the years since its inception, and in recent years it has continuously accelerated. This has happened and is happening both from the point of view of growth in space and production machinery.

De Lama has been continuously expanding over the years since its inception, and in recent years it has continuously accelerated. This has happened and is happening both from the point of view of growth in space and production machinery.

In particular, De Lama is currently engaged in an important expansion which will lead the company to quintuple its surface area and quadruple its production space by the end of 2025. The important expansion was completely designed according to the most innovative technologies, with lower environmental impact and with particular attention to all eco-sustainable aspects such as the impressive photovoltaic system which aims to cover over 90% of energy needs.
