De Lama has been on the market for over 10 years since 2015 and is universally recognized as a pioneer and leader in vaporized hydrogen peroxide (Vaporized H202 or vH202) sterilization under high vacuum thanks to the exclusive HyPerPure® process.

The HyPerPure® technology, today evolved, refined and absolutely reliable, is present in the most important pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of medical devices with systems ranging from 150 liters up to 85 square meters.

This new frontier of low temperature sterilization is also the real alternative to EtO (Ethylene Oxide) and Gamma Rays or Beta and the greenest solution to reach Carbon Zero target also as an alternative to classic steam sterilization.

De Lama has developed an innovative process starting from its many years of experience in the sterilization field: HyPerPure® Low temperature Sterilization technology with Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VH202) under deep vacuum and zero air.

HyPerPure® Sterilization technology is a proprietary solution by De Lama operated with De Lama DLVHP/ST equipment.

It’s a low-temperature sterilization process representing the real alternative to ETO (Ethylene Oxide) and Gamma Rays sterilization, and offering important advantages compared to these more traditional techniques.

Thermo-labile finished products can be fully sterilised in the most recessed cavities.
The peculiarity of the use of the vacuum technology allows the hydrogen peroxide vapors full penetration into the widest variety of packaging. Vacuum system is composed by multiple step high vacuum system to allow the most effective sterilization phase and H202 removal at cycle end.

The sterilisation cycle work in an open loop, without any consumable, and grant a very high level of repeatability

One of the ingredients that makes the process with HyPerPure® special and highly performing is De Lama’s proprietary peroxide generator called HyPerGeneSys® covered by an international patent.

It is a special Vaporized H202 generator that is able to operate in a high vacuum and in addition operates by acting with an electromagnetic field capable of ionizing the peroxide molecules in order to increase their lethal effect on microorganisms, and in this sense making the process even faster and more effective.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION FEATURES

FDA – Food Drug Administration in January 2024 added Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide among Class A sterilizing agents.

All these advantages are pushing Companies not only to replace EtO (Ethylene Oxide) sterilization and Gamma Rays, but also to use HyPerPure® as an alternative to classic saturated steam sterilization: in fact HyPerPure® can provide an effective sterilization also on non-thermosensitive materials, basically all kind of products except liquids filled in containers. Many Pharma Companies are also embracing the exclusive 2 in 1 Combo solution offered by De Lama: Saturated Steam + HyPerPure Hydrogen peroxide sterilization to get the maximum flexibility and to keep classic stream sterlization while gaining experience and validating more processes with HyPerPure VH202.

MAIN ADVANTAGES & FUNCTIONAL FEATURES

  • Time savings: the process is extremely fast when compared to other sterilization processes. Average total process time is 3 to 5 hours (versus 48-72 hours of EtO-Ethylene Oxide sterilzation).
  • Savings on filter elements and ventilation systems. The final elimination of peroxide in the chamber doesn’t have any impact on HVAC filters: in fact, there are no air flows for the degassing of the machine that impact on the company’s ventilation systems.
  • Savings on maintenance costs. The DLVHP / ST is also equipped with a catalyst for the elimination of hydrogen peroxide residues which does not require the need for consumables and, therefore, maintenance costs for the replacement of components. Average duration of a static catalyst filter is 10 years.

MEDICAL DEVICES STERILIZABLE WITH HYPERPURE VH202 STERILIZER UNDER DEEP VACUUM

  • Terminal sterilization of packaging, even outside a classified area.

The process of packaging products such as syringes already sterilized, can now be done by totally eliminating the use of the very expensive Class A (or B) clean room where it was necessary to realize the packaging of the products. Although the contents of the syringe have been previously sterilized, the legislation stipulates that even the air inside the packaging and the external surface of the syringe must be sterile. Until now there was no other solution than to realize the packaging operations inside a classified and aseptic area. Today all this can be avoided. With the autoclave proposed by De Lama, Hydrogen Peroxide, by means of a strong vacuum, is able to penetrate the packaging and to penetrate surfaces such as Tyvek® (or medical paper), thus sterilizing the environment inside the package and the external surface of the product.

Specific packaging with one side in Tyvek ® (or medical paper) , once extracted by autoclave, even if the operation is realized in a non-classified area, preserves the sterile environment inside packaging created by sterilization process through Hydrogen peroxide made with DLVHP/ST.

To carry out this sterilization it is sufficient to insert the packages in the chamber and start the cycle. All of this can occur, we repeat the concept, also in a lower classification environment, thus avoiding the costs of environments classified as high-level aseptic.

  • Sterilization of thermosensitive medical devices such as catheters, plastic syringes, masks, etc.

For those thermolabile products, once sterilizable only through ETO (ie ethylene oxide gas) or gamma rays, today there is a new solution.

The result is to replace the demanding management of ETO (flammable, toxic and expensive to manage) with a much simpler, cheaper and eco-compatible process that can also be completely internalized in the company (unlike gamma rays, that for their criticality are managed in specialized centers outside the manufacturing company).

  • Heat-sensitive surgical kits

Another field of application where until now the ETO was the only solution.

  • Prosthesis for implant.

Thanks to the deep penetration of Hydrogen Peroxide and its cold process, Sterilization through De Lama DLVHP/ST is a new solution for Prosthesis for implants of various materials and for diffrent surgical applications like: knee, ankles, elbow, jaw and more.

Prosthesis are usually sterilized inside their plastic bags or packaging made with thermoformed plastic with one side in Tyvek ® (or medical paper).

De Lama is always available to test the sterilization of every single prostheys produced in order to verify the perfect sterilization also in the most inner parts and holes for objects with a complex design and also to verify the complete material compatibility with Hydrogen Peroxide.

  • Multi-components medical devices with electronics, such as pacemakers, defibrillators, cochlear implants and much more

Thanks to the deep penetration of Hydrogen Peroxide and its low temperature process, also sterilization of multi-components implants such as pace-makers, defribillators and cochlear implants is now possible.

  • Sterilization of nest with syringes

Finally HyPerPure® has eliminated the need of using EtO (flammable, toxic and expensive to manage) offering a greener and cheaper technology.

  • Sterilization of machine parts, especially those of the filling line inside an isolator made of POM-C or others thermolabile materials

HyPerPure® sterilizer offers something unique: now it is possible to sterilize the pieces of the filling line inside the isolator, We are talking about those pieces that can’t withstand high temperatures but need to be sterilized.
This process can be made by a DLVHP/ST equipment standing alone, or directly connected with an isolator.

  • Sterilization of single use thermosensitive parts of the line inside isolator

An important new trend in Pharma: single-use parts to be used inside the isolator.
Today these parts can be sterilized with HyPerPure® technology in an equipment standing alone, or making the process even smoother, when an HyPerPure® equipment is in direct connection with an isolator through the use of De Lama Magnetodoor®
